The HANDS Program

The HANDS Program is held by Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services. This program is a voluntary home visitation program for new and expectant parents. The HANDS staff meet with the expecting parents to help them learn about different lifestyle choices they can give their baby. I think this program is very helpful to expectant mothers and especially for the teen mothers. This program is designed to give expectant mothers an extra set of hands. It also gives them a lot of information on child safety issues and if you need help getting something for your infant, sometimes they can help you to get it. Also, around Christmas they have a little party for the infants in their program and they give them gifts. If you are a first-time expectant parent and you aren't sure about something during your pregnancy or about your newborn, then don't hesitate to call and get signed up for the HANDS Program if you live in Kentucky. Although, the HANDS Program is offered in some of the other states as well.
